How is acupuncture performed?
Acupuncture is performed using thin, usually steel needles inserted into specific points on the skin called acupuncture points. Stimulating these points causes changes in energy flow, which then affect other energy channels and the body as a whole. The needles may be connected to electrodes for electrostimulation.
What does an acupuncture treatment look like?
First, a patient examination and diagnosis are conducted, followed by treatment. The patient lies down in a comfortable, relaxed environment. The process lasts about 30 minutes, after which the needles are removed and the patient can resume daily activities. A cycle of 10 treatments is recommended to achieve the best therapeutic effect. After a break, depending on the diagnosis and results, the cycle can be repeated.
You may feel a brief sharp sensation when the needles are inserted. Once placed, the needles cause no pain. Patients often report feeling relaxed and calm during treatment.
